Why it Matters
Australia has one of the word’s unaffordable housing markets. According to data from the 2016 Census, 1.55 million Australians are currently dealing with housing stress.
Over the past decade, there’s been more than a 100% increase in single adults occupying public housing (54% in 2016, compared with only 21% in 2005). Hard working renters and vulnerable groups like women over 50 are finding it harder and harder to find a place to call home, with some ending up homeless. In New Zealand, the pattern is similar.

I began investing in properties based on the ‘delayed gratification’ philosophy of ‘lose money now, so you can make money later.’
A few years later we found ourselves with 7 properties that were negatively geared. I was shelling out $36K a year (a third of our young family’s gross income) just to hold onto the properties.
I was drowning in mortgage debt and couldn’t see a way out. I felt like a slave to the banks, working long hours, and living a miserable life.
Then, I made a radical shift.
I had to offload everything in a fire sale and took a $300,000 loss in just a few weeks.
I started over. But this time with a new plan of attack. I invested in cash flow positive property.
Just 13 months later, I had enough cash flow from my properties that I could leave my job. And I’ve never looked back.
Now, I only invest in properties with a positive return.
I’ve spent the past decade teaching other investors how to do the same.
